Blossom Magnolia

All around is blooming and that’s a great opportunity to go to plein air! 

Fortunately, near my house there is a glorious Botanical garden, which became a blossom paradise in spring time. I chose a giant blossom Magnolia for painting, especially the flowers will fall soon and I need to hurry up. Huge fragrant flowers immediately attracted my attention. I really joined the process of painting. Adorned with patches of sunlight, white flowers of Magnolia looked gorgeous and chicly. 

I made attempt to catch an atmosphere of sunny afternoon, to fill the canvas with light and air.

Watercolor sketch Iris

Paper, watercolor.

Irises are my favorite flowers. In ancient Greek "Iris" means rainbow, and easily to understand why. An amazing variety of forms and colors give an inspiration to artists all over the world.

The large volume petals shimmering with all colors and hues have an intricate pattern in the center. Most of all I like the harmony of violet and yellow colors in this flower. A perfect combination.

Still life with Strawberry and blueberry

The checkered tablecloth, white tabletop, berries on the blue ornamental plate. I made this bright colorful still life inspired by italian style. I painted this still life from nature in alla prima technique. Berries sparkled in the sunlight, vivify with hundred glints. I paid a lot of attention to details, carefully painted a pattern on the plate, texture of berries and tabletop.

Radish

The fresh bright radish reminds me the sunny summer.
I composed this simple still life with a bunch of radish on the dark background. Emerald green hue of leafs perfectly harmonised with purple red of roots.
Painting was made using oil paints in alla prima technique.

Narcissus

The first of April today and a new sunny painting Narcissus.
The stunning yellow color of Narcissus gives a spring mood and cheerfulness. I used a bit chilly hue for background to highlight the warmness of flowers. Spiky form of multilayered petals make the flower remarkable and intricate. I applied the Mars Orange Transparent in the shadows and Lemon Yellow with Zincum White in the lights.
