Red-white roses

These magnificent multicolored roses I picked on the rose farm in Stuttgart. That's really rare sort of roses I've never get in my hand before and the long-awaited painting challenge.

I made an attempt to depict on canvas the harmony of ivory, light pink, red and carmine, the cold violet tones on the shadows, the warm lighting on  the velvet petals.

Roses are at the peak of blooming, the withering hadn't touched the petals, but the boutons just a little bent under the weight.

Unfortunately, the picture couldn't convey an amazing flavor of flowers, I've enjoyed while painting process.

Hope, you like the result!

On the cabbage field

Today I've spent a wonderful plein air day on the cabbage field. It was extremely hot, about 30C despite 8th of September! Anyway, I got a lot of great impressions.

The cabbage was wonderful violet-lilo-coldgreen shimmered color. The sunlit highlighted the juicy leafs, so I could see all details of texture.

I felt sorry that couldn't stay longer because of hot, to make one more picture. Hope to come again!

Bad Wildbad landscape. Summer pleinair

The last summer month is on the run, that means I have to put all the time to the pleinair. That's I'm trying to do every day even on the weekend!
Today I would like to share some pleinair process. The last Saturday I spent in Schwarzwald. That's an amazing place, possibly the best in Germany. Mountains and picturesque valleys, mountain rivers and lakes - that all you can find there. Bad Wildbad is a cozy resort in the heart of Schwarzwald. I like it and come there to relax almost every weekend. These time I took my paints to make some etudes, so here is the result.

Pink roses

Today I painted the amazing sweet roses. I picked them on Sunday, and unfortunately, they started to fade. So, I had the last chance to paint it!
I don't know why, but roses are not my forte. But this time I felt, that luck is on my side. In my opinion, this painting is one of the most successful attempts.
Hope you like it too!

Sunny Tuesday to everybody!

Lavender Field

I'm fond of lavender. I like it's flavor, color, the form of flowers, and most of all I like lavender fields. Exciting harmony of violet, saturated yellow-green of the grass and the blue sky. On the background could be seen red roofs of the houses in the valley. A little bit disheveled clouds give a tone of intensity in the idyllic landscape.

Light blue Irises

These amazing Irises I painted in the Botanical Garden of the University Hohenheim. I chose an oval canvas for this flower still life, to give some softness and intimacy to the composition solution.
Rare light blue color makes the flowers extremely cute and sweet. The silky sparkling texture of petals looks great under the Sunlight.
Emerald green leafs and stems harmonize with the violet tone of flowers. Yellow fluffy stamens beautifully decorate the flowers and finalize the color palette.

Iris. Watercolor pencil on paper

To create this work I was inspired by the Japanese traditional engraving. Mostly I like masterpieces of Ando Hiroshige, the way he combines colors and bold composition solutions.
Watercolor pencils are the new material for me. I tried to understand how the colors mix and blend with each other caused by water. Also I used a black ink brush to give some sharpness and certainty.

Turkish Tulips

Rare and extremely beautiful sort of tulips. Pointed petals and tender color give to the flowers special charm. Especially I like a soft creamy color of these tulips, exactly as sweet Turkish pastilles.

Orange Tulips

I was totally fascinated by this sort of tulips. The orange color is unusual for tulips, and crumpled form of petals make this flowers uniquely beautiful. The lime green streaks are perfectly harmonised with warm orange tone.

I made this oil painting in impressionistic manner, trying to fill the canvas with air and sunlight.

Hohenheim Botanical Garden

I spent an amazing sunny day in the botanical garden of the Hohenheim University to paint this landscape oil painting.
I tried to express an atmosphere of calmness, appeasement of the sunny afternoon.
The sunlit lawn on the foreground blinds with a juicy green grass. The house surrounded with trees and plants lighted with the warm sunlight. The violet tone of shadows contrasts with the beige walls. Saturated blue color of the sky perfectly accomplishes the color harmony.
